Week 4: Preparation for Data Collection

As our preparation for our upcoming research trip, one of our teammates, Chan Hee, contacted her Japanese friend and asked if she will be willing to be interviewed about our research topic.

We also did some research as to the public space we can visit in Japan. Most of the research was planned to be done individually as it would be more efficient for our data collection.

However, we did visit some public space in pairs/groups in Japan.

Week 5(3/2/2020-9/2/2020): Japan research trip

Cerene, Chan Hee, and I interviewed Yuna, a Japanese friend of Chan Hee, at our hostel at around 5PM. Below is a short introduction we filmed with me introducing our interviewee.

We also had a small discussion with our two other teammates at Meiji Jingu about our project.

Week 6(13/2/2020): Consultation for Project 2

After returning from Japan. We started to work on our slides for data collection. During week 6, our group consulted Mr. Asrizal in the evening for our slides. Below is the slide.

Feedback
Mr. Asrizal commented that our data collection is sufficient. However, he advised us to:

1. Transcribe our interview
2. Provide more details about our interviewee
3. Remove "5 Aspects" on Slide 7
4. Give credits to each photo's photographer
5. Provide captions to pictures
6. Summarize our findings
7. Pick the main message to be delivered to the audience
8. Start to think about our final visual representation
9. Consider the best medium to deliver our main message
10. Mention in the first view slides about the real meaning of Omoiyari and how we misunderstood it at first
11. Add research topic, research objective and questions in the first few slides
12. Compare this culture with Malaysian culture

Mr. Asrizal mentioned we don't have to limit ourselves to merely the typical mediums for our final project, but think about the most suitable medium instead. He also suggested considering publication as one of the options. Besides, he said our topic is very interesting and he would make something out of it if we don't.

Week 6(17/2/2020): Presentation of Project 2

Our group presented the final compilation of slides in the class and below is the slide.

Feedback
Ms. Anis advised us to revise our ideas for Final Project by taking into account the time constraint. Otherwise, the slides are fine.
