INSTRUCTIONS

Week 3 (06/09/2021) & Week 4 (13/09/2021)

PROJECT 1 GUIDELINE:

We will synthesize the knowledge gained in task 1 and demonstrate the ability to explore and generate 3 sets of matte painted concepts based on chosen location via google maps capture or any high res photos. We are to analyze and implement painting techniques for aperiodic change of time with a theme to create a photo-realistic shot. You will start with color bashing and blocking to identify elements used in consideration of perspective, value, color palette, composition fundamentals, etc to obtain believability and realism. Finally, we will conclude by selecting and presenting their output interpretation in the instructed format/s.

Blocking out 3 artwork based on the images selected without color picking from the chosen photo. To choose 1 final artwork that will be polished and final rendered. Output render must be in 16:9 widescreen or portrait size 150 dpi minimum. To submit in .pdf compilation of all the all work and one high res image for 1 Final Render.

* We can choose the photos used in Exercise for Project 1. However, it's optional.
* No color dropping from the reference image is allowed.

Week 5 (20/09/2021)

Progression
Below are the 3 refined landscape paintings.

Fig. 1.6 Mountain Refined

Fig. 1.7 Beach Refined

Fig. 1.8 Desert Refined

Feedback: Mr Kannan commented that it would be great if I can refine Fig. 1.6 and Fig. 1.7 until the stage of Fig. 1.8, as it's the best among all three.

Week 6 (27/09/2021)

Progression
Below are the 3 refined landscape paintings.

Fig. 1.9 Mountain Refined 2.0

Fig. 1.10 Beach Refined 2.0

Fig. 1.11 Desert Refined 2.0

Feedback:
Fig. 1.9 - more refinement is needed for the mountains.
Fig. 1.10 - The horizon should be softer and blurry since it's located far away.
Fig. 1.11 -  Add a thin lining of cloud, and fix the mountain to make it look more organic.
